Pharma and healthcare experience desired
Overview
The Art Director is a position intended for those candidates who have worked in an agency setting for 2-4 years and are ready to lead design execution and delivery of a wide range of communications materials for our pharmaceutical clients across all media platforms.
The job requires confidence to creative visual design, sometimes based on nothing more than ideas and words provided by clients or colleagues, and the ability to sell their work to peers and clients. An art director will also have the ability to participate in and help develop our design offerings. The role is very hands-on and is often busy; time and self-management skills are essential.
Art directors are expected to work independently and show initiative in their creative work. They must show a willingness and active drive to be promoted to a Senior Art Director through not just creative output, but an active understanding of the medical communications business. And they must be able to partner with account and scientific teams to elevate projects to a higher creative level. A portfolio showcasing previous work is essential.

We have high standards. You will be part of a team that loves to engage with each other and with our agency-wide partners. We expect you to be open to direction and to learn from your manager, senior creatives, and from your peers. We want you to learn to love medical communications as much as we do, and a keen interest in science and medicine will go a long way.
You must be motivated with a flexible and can-do attitude, combined with excellent communication skills. You should show an ability to overcome challenging requirements and demonstrate creativity and innovation in finding ways to execute never-been-done-before ideas. We expect you to keep abreast of the latest creative and digital trends.
The candidate will report to an Associate Creative Director, and is expected to be well organized, with an ability to work efficiently with other people.
With current social distancing restrictions, the candidate must be able to work independently from their home, and maintain consistent contact with their manager, fellow EG members, and their account and scientific team using virtual communication platforms such as Zoom and Teams.

Required from September 2021, a talented, committed and dynamic teacher to inspire in the girls a love of Art and Design and to lead an excellent team with an impressive record of success at A Level and in preparing girls for Foundation courses. This is an important role which would suit an ambitious, creative individual wishing to make a significant impact on the success of the School and to enhance the girls’ education, through both curricular and extracurricular activities. Art is a popular subject and the Department is well resourced, allowing the new Head of Art and Design considerable scope for innovation.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, suitably qualified and creative teacher, with the ability to enthuse our imaginative and highly motivated girls from Year 7 to Sixth Form, both inside and outside the classroom. S/he will be a first-rate classroom practitioner who is able to model and develop excellence for the girls. Whilst Fine Art is currently the core of what we do, we are looking to expand our offering and the new Head of Art and Design will be encouraged to introduce his/her own specialisms for the benefit of both girls and other teaching staff alike. A willingness and ability to develop, lead and participate in extra curricular or outreach activities and trips, including keeping the Department open out of school hours for girls to have access to the Art facilities, are essential.
A thriving, academically selective School with 900 girls between Years 7-11, we are part of the Bolton School Foundation, sharing activities, expertise and a magnificent 32 acre campus with the Boys’ Division and offering pupils single sex education in a co-educational environment – ‘the best of both worlds’. The School is situated in an attractive, prosperous part of Bolton with easy access to some of the nation’s finest cities and countryside. In 2019 Bolton School was awarded the TES ‘Independent Senior School of the Year’ and ‘Independent School of the Year’. We are committed to increasing social mobility in our community: one in five of our pupils attends on a means-tested Bursary and Governors have a realistic aim to reach one in three by 2030. The pupil community reflects the ethnic diversity of the town of Bolton; the current teaching body is less diverse and there is a desire to improve this through new appointments to the staff body. Staff and pupils enjoy excellent relations and the atmosphere in School is warm, purposeful and fun. Parents are highly supportive. All teachers and girls receive an iPad and lessons have successfully continued throughout the pandemic via Zoom, thanks to the commitment of teaching colleagues and the engagement of the pupils.
Closing date for applications: 9.00am on Thursday 11 March 2021.
Interviews will be held week commencing 15 or 22 March 2021.
Bolton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to equality and diversity in all aspects of employment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced check for Regulated Activity.
