The Architecture team at N Brown is an interesting and dynamic place to work, helping to shape and guide the right technology outcomes for N Brown, you will be responsible for the creation of quality designs that are in line with overall strategy, but also to ensure that such designs are understandable, implementable and can be supported in a sustainable way.
This specific role aligns to our Retail and Commerce tribe which incorporates, payments, orders, promotions and shopping cart capabilities. The tribe ensures that stable and performant services are delivered and can leveraged by channel applications, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable customer experience.
As a Solution Architect here at N Brown your responsibilities will include:
  • The solution designs and creation of architectural artefacts to help support business initiatives within the Retail and Commerce squads.
  • Supporting the Product Owner and other key team members in the interpretation of requirements and user stories into meaningful design
  • Solution governance and quality assurance, including proactive contribution to Technology Design Authority and the reduction of squad technical debt
  • Providing solutions for a wide range of technologies
  • Working in an agile environment to a squad model, whilst also having the flexibility to work in alternative methods as and when needed.
  • Supporting the squads / team with the development of new work, ensuring that solutions are delivered in a timely manner
  • Supporting Enterprise Architecture definition and maintenance of the architecture roadmap, providing input into strategic technology direction.
  • Providing estimates and timings to Delivery Managers and Product Owners for the creation and support of artefacts.
  • To contribute to the ongoing review and continual improvement of the way we do and maintain standards.

You are expected to be a trusted advisor to several stakeholders, including our product owner community and corresponding technical teams, but also to the wider IT and Business leadership teams. What experience and skills are we looking for?
  • Proven experience in an architecture or similar lead technology role within the retail and commerce space.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and lead others through organisational and technology change.
  • Ability to work with imperfect information in a fast-paced retail environment, whilst still maintaining high standard, evidenced designs and documentation.

You will:

  • Design cohesive data system solutions from source to production, analytics & support and APIs. With business continuity (backup & restore, resiliency, high availability and disaster recovery), compliance (CDDR, RTBF etc) and security considered as standard.
  • Ensure solutions designs are technically feasible and can deliver against business SLA’s.
    • Build and facilitate the creation of reusable archetypes (e.g. acquisition, ingestion, streaming, flat file, intra-day, daily etc). Offering guidance on how the archetypes can be used and evolved based on use cases.
    • Designs efficient, cost effective solutions, across on-prem & cloud across the whole pipeline from source to production, analytics & support and APIs, undertaking capacity planning across all systems while generating  “Total Cost of  Ownership” forecasts with reconciliation between design versus actuals.
      • Works with Tech Analyst and entire Squad to support best practices, ETL, and data pipeline development and architectural patterns.
      • Leads on technology incubation capabilities, to support use cases and new technologies, working with Data Engineering, DevOps and Operations.
      • Working with the squad to estimate the cost of change (Gate 0, Gate 2 etc.)

 You will have:

  • Seen as an expert within the technical components of the domains/products/journeys.
  • Appreciation of full-stack engineering with a passion for leading & mentoring teams.
    • Experiences with code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, application security.

Key projects to be delivered across 2019/20 will include the continued integration with Manchester Local Care Organisation, Data Centre migration and the underpinning enabling projects across Networking and Security, new telephony services, a new CRM, end user compute strategy and Windows 10 upgrade and a new Social care System.
You will be part of a team, reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, of 2 other experienced Enterprise Architects and managing a pool of dedicated Business Analysts supporting and advising the Council's business units with technological change within Manchester City Council. It is essential that the Enterprise Architects has extension people management skills as well as a proven high level of technical expertise.
This is a high-profile role which represents a unique opportunity to take accountability for a significant function in MCC's ICT department. You will be helping MCC achieve its strategic objectives, shaping the forward view of ICT and ensuring investment is linked to long-term MCC strategy.
You will;

  • Line manage and be responsible for the development of the department's business analysis function
  • Support strategic interface to Council's business units via the Heads of IT to ensure that the ICT strategy is aligned with the business strategy, and the business units' business plans are ICT-compatible
  • Support the continued development of and, maintenance of an enterprise and technical architecture framework, and corresponding guidance and standards to ensure availability and capacity of infrastructure and systems, and compatibility and interoperability between new and existing systems

Experience Required:

  • Experience of enterprise architecture, including the following disciplines: business analysis, applications/systems engineering, data/information architectures and technical architectures.
  • Experience of system architecture development, portioning of functionality among applications and components and applications interfaces/ interoperability concerns.
  • Practical experience of one or more architecture frameworks and any associated architecture development methods, including TOGAF certified or equivalent.
  • Track record of operating at senior levels of an organisation and translating technology into terms relating to Council's drivers and financial performance
  • Knowledge and experience of server and networking hardware and operating systems

The Role

SPIE UK, a smart engineering and technology-driven solutions provider for the built environment, are looking for an Architectural Designer to be responsible for progressing the design of architectural work packages from client concept ideas through to fully detailed construction status design packages.

The successful candidate will produce substantiating calculations, material selections and BOMs to support their design.

The key responsibilities of a Lead Architectural Designer include, but are not limited to:

•Reporting into the Design Manager, the Lead Architectural Designer will join a highly reputable name in the cleanroom and food & beverage environmental control market.
•Responsibilities will include progressing the definition of architectural work packages from client concepts through to fully detailed construction detailed design packages. Close coordination with the mechanical and electrical design teams will be required.
•The role will produce substantiating calculations, material selections, cost plans and BOMs to support the design.
•Leading and supporting bid proposals and feasibility studies to enable a design and build project to be quantified, costed and proposed to serve the clients brief.
•The role will initially involve working from home during the pandemic then office based in Manchester.
•Travel to client sites will be required nationally once a week.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Lead Architectural Designer:

•Architectural drawing production of clean rooms, labs, writeup areas
•Production of typical details drawings, schedules, room loaded drawings, bill of quantities from the design
•Selection of clean room materials and details interfaces including walls, ceilings, doors, windows
•Basic support and fixings calculations to validate design
•Competent in drawing in AutoCAD and modelling in Revit including data
•Must have a thorough understanding of design details in clean rooms in order to include necessary solutions in their design

•Be qualified as an Architectural Technologist / Technician, with working experience of lead architect within a UK practice

• Collaborate with UKI leadership, partners and other third parties to implement a strategy to drive Modern Workplace Managed Services (MS) sales growth across the regions.
• Work closely with Avanade sales, service leads and delivery teams on individual opportunities, shaping and supporting conversion of a managed services win strategy and underpinning service/solution architecture spanning design, integration and management (leveraging best practice methodologies e.g. ITIL4, COBIT, LEAN and DevOPs).
• Work with Sales and Finance to define the right commercial solution and with Technical Solution Architects to define the right delivery approach including processes, methods, tooling and partners to underpin the Service Design.
• Educate account leadership, business development and managed services teams on our Modern Workplace Managed Services Portfolio and how to position and architect our solutions to build customer value and drive revenue growth.
• Lead UKI leadership and delivery teams during architectural design sessions, key customer workshops, implementation project reviews and end-to-end solution shaping.
• Assist with alignment of the Europe and UKI Modern Workplace Managed Services businesses to deliver marquis accounts and best-in-class bids.
About you:
As an experienced Managed Services Solutions Architect you have:
• You must have experience in implementing a strategy to drive Modern Workplace Managed Services:
• Extensive and senior experience of architecting and supporting sales of (ideally Microsoft enabled) Workplace Managed Services solutions spanning infrastructure, platforms, applications, devices, security, data, experience and business improvement.
• Sales and/or end to end solutioning accountability and track record for a pipeline of $10M+ TCV managed services deals with demonstrable innovation and value creation plus evidence of successful cross and upsell motions.
• Service design, integration, implementation, transition, and lifecycle management including development of performance metrics spanning operations, experience and business value.
• Workplace services strategy, organisation, and operations consultancy knowledge.
• Knowledge of ITSM; ITIL v4; Agile; DevOps; COBIT.
• Experience of leading, implementing, and deploying innovative go-to-market strategies (all sales and marketing initiatives) across large scale services-based opportunities.
