Becoming an airport security officer comes with a vast amount of responsibility, but can also offer a huge sense of achievement and a challenge to a successful applicant. An airport security officer will be dealing with emergencies alongside keeping the building, its contents and the people inside safe. There are a wide range of daily tasks to complete, including:

  • Monitoring CCTV screens
  • Patrolling their area of responsibility

There are no formal education requirements needed to become an airport security officer, but a good standard of GCSE grades will definitely put you ahead of the competition at an interview. A Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence is a must for anyone who wishes to work in airport security and a DBS check is also required to ensure that the applicant is trustworthy and right for the position. Previous experience in security jobs, such as door supervisor security officers jobs, can also be beneficial.
