Responsibilities will include:

  • Operating / overseeing both the sales and purchase ledger.
  • Daily banking.

  • Involvement with VAT returns and CIS scheme.
  • Assist in the monthly management accounts.
  • Assist with statutory reporting (including audit).
  • Ad-hoc duties. Being a small team, in a growing environment, this item is significant.


It would be advantageous to have the following background and skills:

  • Previous experience of working within an accounting department, ideally within a similar SME environment.
  • Professional qualification (advantageous).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal combined with ability tailor to best suit the recipient.
  • Supervisory / mentoring skills.
  • Tenacity!
  • Good IT skills, Excel being essential, Xero would be beneficial.

As an Accounts Assistant within the Sky Finance Delivery team, you will support our finance team to manage and account for the suppliers and master data within our Accounts Payable function.

What you'll do:

  • Maintaining Supplier address book to reduce redundant or duplicate suppliers
  • Completing daily report checks
  • Accurate Supplier Qualification and Master Data set up
  • Processing payment runs using SAP system
  • Managing error resolution as required, such as failed payments, or Master Data errors
  • Managing invoice exceptions
  • Handling queries via Sysaid helpdesk system, seeing through to resolution within SLA
  • Working with cash teams to review and clear bank reconciliation items
  • Managing end to end direct debit process
  • Ensuring compliance with company controls, policies and procedures
  • Other Accounts Payable work as required including but not limited to -supplier statement reconciliations and assisting on audit enquiries.

What you'll bring:

  • You will already have knowledge of Accounts Payable processes in a high-volume environment and/or Supplier set up and management, having worked in a similar role will help you fit right in!
  • Great record of providing excellent service to customers
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic/intermediate excel knowledge required
  • Good IT skills preferably Ariba Cloud, VIM/SAP
