Apex Molecular, a rapidly expanding chemistry contract research organization (CRO) based in Cheshire, England, is currently looking for Synthetic Organic Chemists (multiple vacancies) to join our growing contract research and medicinal chemistry teams.
The successful applicants will experience the full variety of chemistry within Apex Molecular including:
  • Custom synthesis projects on small, lab scale up to 20 litre scale
  • FTE projects synthesising compound libraries for testing in medicinal chemistry lead identification / lead optimisation programs
  • Handling and synthesis of highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients

They will work closely with our existing experienced contract synthesis and research chemistry teams, and communicate directly with customers to continue to deliver the levels of technical excellence and customer service we pride ourselves on.

  • Ideally previous industry experience in practical organic chemistry as a Research Chemist

Service Technician (Trainee Engineer) required by expanding business supplying and servicing Environmental Monitoring Systems to the pharmaceutical industry and NHS hospital trusts. Based in Runcorn, Cheshire with a salary in the range £18K-£22K depending on skills and experience. Joining our growing Service department, you will be required to support the service engineers in performing on-site calibrations on a wide variety of instrumentation that make up our environmental monitoring systems mainly at sites across Northern England. Travel to other areas of the U.K. and Ireland may be required on occasion. In addition, technicians will be given training, and the opportunity to learn from engineers with a view to potential progression to engineer in the future.
You will provide practical assistance to Service Engineers throughout the routine on-site calibrations/service at customer sites. This will largely involve working in clean room facilities and plant areas. Generation and completion of calibration certification to a high standard. Contributing to the support/service team in other ways when possible.
Key Skills:
Good practical aptitude is required together with a general interest in technology and computing. Previous experience in calibration or maintenance is preferred. Good levels of numeracy and literacy with experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) are preferable, as well as a conscientious approach to work with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. Technicians will be working predominantly as part of a team however, displaying initiative when required and possessing the flexibility to take on new tasks when necessary.
Qualifications:
GCSE Maths, English and Science at Grade C or above with a proactive and enthusiastic approach to work, a team player and the desire to learn new skills. A driving license is essential.
Technicians will be given training, and the opportunity to learn from engineers with a view to potential progression to the role of Senior Technician/Service Engineer in the future.
