Located next to Westhaven Hospital, Weymouth, Linden Unit has 15 beds and provides acute assessment and treatment for people aged 18 and over who are in an acute phase of illness and working towards their recovery.
We are an open unit which has successfully completed implementation of all ten Safewards interventions so are now a “Safewards Ward”. A recovery focussed, supportive team, we work therapeutically to provide meaningful occupation and skills to people through activities on and off the ward. These include but are not limited to music composition and freestyle, furniture upcycling, bicycle maintenance and riding, gardening and working with horses amongst many others.
We also encourage physical activity and have a full exercise programme which includes yoga, swimming, boxing, taster sessions of watersports, golf, gym, walking and are always open to innovation. We run all these activities alongside our therapeutic recovery and skills based groups aimed at working towards discharge. We also work closely with the Dorset Mental Health Forum Peer Specialists in recovery education.
The Multi-disciplinary team on Linden Ward provides treatment and care for a wide range of mental health illnesses which include Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
The aim of all staff is to provide a high quality of care and treatment for patients who have physical, social, psychological and emotional health needs and enable them to return home with support from the Home Treatment Team and / or their Community Mental Health Team.

An unique opportunity to join the Homeless Health service as an experienced Registered Physical Health Nurse. The role is to ensure that the rough sleeper population in Dorset, have access to a timely service. Sadly the mortality rate for rough sleepers is much higher than the general population, and therefore the need to take the services to the individual, is much greater. Working alongside a Homeless Health Mental Health nurse, and liaising with many statutory and external agencies will be important, as our homeless population have complex multi-disciplinary needs. The Homeless Health service hours of work are Monday to Friday 9-5pm.

Weymouth & Portland Community Mental Health Team are seeking 2 Mental Health Nurses (1 full time 37.5 hours and 1 30 hours) to join our well established team. If you have experience working with people suffering severe mental illness, whether this be inpatient or community based, we would love to hear from you.
The post holders will work as part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary team. This team is made up of a several Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Time Recovery Workers, Occupational Therapist and Carers support worker. We also have Peer Specialists working alongside the team to promote recovery.
The primary role is being a dedicated Care Coordinator for a caseload of service users with whom you would provide person centred targeted input to assist in aiding their recovery. This includes completing some initial assessments which gives you a chance to utilise your clinical assessment skills whilst risk assessment will remain at the forefront of everything you do. There is also the need to help cover duty at times.
You should have recent experience of working in a mental health environment, you will need to be able to apply the philosophies of engagement and recovery in your work with service users.
We have 2 fulltime duty workers and also a dedicated Wellbeing and medication management team that includes a one stop Clozaril clinic , a depot clinic and physical health monitoring service.
This job is enjoyable but challenging and if you’re ready for this then we are looking for someone who is reliable, committed and motivated with excellent communication, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
In return we are will offer you comprehensive structured management supervision, access to clinical supervisors, team leaders you can approach whenever needed, regular team meetings, a monthly education meeting and a twice monthly MDT complex case meeting to support staff with their caseloads. We also promote joint working of complex cases with team leaders.
