Sittingbourne Employment Trends
The Swale Borough Council reportedly has drawn up a development plan that aims among other things to create just over 7,000 jobs in Sittingbourne and surrounding villages of Swale, apart from re-development of the town-centre and improved housing. Kent Online reports that unemployment rates in Sheppey and Sittingbourne have hit an all-time low since 2007 in the last few months, with 218 JSA claimants lesser than 2007 average numbers. With recent recruitments by Morrisons, new Wetherspoon's and ASDA, and the local pub Vineyard, and new developments such as the Neats Court in Sheerness, and the proposed Kent Science park expected to add over 4,000 jobs in the next 20 years, jobs in Sittingbourne are likely to spike.
