Traditionally known as the Steel City due to its international reputation for heavy industry production, Sheffield has encouraged a steady economic expansion in a number of other areas. A recent report by the Centre for Economic and Business Research predicts that Sheffield's economy will have increased in value by £84m by the end of 2017, leading to the creation of over 1,500 new jobs in the same period. As a hub for travel, jobs in both Sheffield and the surrounding areas can be reached via the M1 and M18 motorway links, as well as by a number of major public transport routes that are linked through Sheffield railway station. House prices are reassuringly stable, varying by only £30,000 depending on the location.
