There are various teams with different roles within the Medical Records Department that together facilitate the smooth running of the Medical Records and Outpatient Appointment functions within Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust.

The Appointment Centre role includes making, changing and cancelling appointments on the phone, registering all paper and E-Mail referrals, printing referrals, updating demographic, referral and appointment details on electronic patient administration system and managing urgent referrals. You will be required to use multiple IT systems and able to multi task.

Main duties of the job

  • Register all paper and fax referrals updating demographic details or creating a new patient registration, if the patient is not already registered, on the electronic patient administration system.
  • Print referrals received via the e-Referral System and update demographic details on electronic patient administration system and on the printed referral.
  • Responsible for the receipt, entry and booking of urgent two-week wait, rapid access chest pain and heart failure referrals and notify GPs of confirmation of receipt in line with agreed protocols.
