A Veterinary Surgeon job opportunity has arisen and will be based in Gloucester working between multiple small animal veterinary practices.
These practices have an extensive range of surgical and diagnostic equipment available, with expertise on hand when needed. The Veterinary Surgeon will be supported by a medicine certificate holder and highly experienced team, and have access to the wider team of referral specialists for further support and CPD.
The Veterinary Surgeon will be expected to provide exemplary veterinary care for all clients in the examination, medical and surgical treatment of their pets. The role will involve examining and assessing all in-patients at least twice a day ensuring the hospital records are fully updated by the nursing team and that the nurses are kept updated of any changes in medication or any change in the condition of the patient.
The right individual will need to be an effective communicator as the Veterinary Surgeon will be dealing with clients calls and queries in a timely manner and with all colleagues to ensure the best possible treatments of all patients under the care of the practice.
The Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for the appropriate pricing of all clinical cases ensuring clients are aware of estimated costs and has been given options and a recommended course of action as stated in the RCVS Guide to Professional Conduct. Responsibilities will also include reviewing and informing clients of the results of laboratory tests and clinical reports, advising whether further tests or actions are indicated ensuring all client records are updated accordingly.
From time to time there will be instances where the Veterinary Surgeon will be required to make home visits. The working days and hours consist of a 4 day working week, 9:00am - 7:00pm, 1:4 weekends and no out of hours.
The right individual will have a minimum of 2 years recent experience in a small animal practice in UK. You will be Veterinary Degree qualified and have full MRCVS status. You will have at least 2 years experience in performing routine operations that include neutering, lump removals and dental procedures. You must be confident and comfortable with acting solely in charge.
In return the you will receive a salary commensurate with experience, 25 days paid holiday in addition to public holidays and a day off for your birthday.
You will also receive £1000 CPD allowance and up to five days for CPD plus industry-leading, in house CPD program. Certificates are encouraged and funded and RCVS/VDS/BVA membership fees paid.
