This Irish town, set in Tyrone County, is home to one of the widest and longest streets in Ireland. An erstwhile active hub of the linen industry, Cookstown today, after several regenerations, prides itself as the ‘retail capital of Mid Ulster'. The town houses consist of family-owned, independent shops and famous high-street stores, not to mention several hotels and restaurants, as well as entertainment, leisure and sporting facilities. The police service, prison service and fire and safety service of Northern Ireland are all based here. The nearest airports, namely George Best City, City of Derry and Belfast International, are about an hour’s drive from the town. The M1 and M2 offer road connectivity. Omagh, Magherafelt, Dungannon, and other parts of the country, including Dublin, are well-connected by regular bus services.
