Buckingham Overview

Buckingham is the county town of Buckinghamshire and is located in the north of the county. This small but lively market town has a population of 12,040. The pleasant town with its Georgian architecture is bisected by the River Great Ouse and is enhanced by several green open spaces. A busy market is still held twice weekly and there is also a monthly food market and a flea market on Saturdays. Silverstone Circuit is just six miles away and has created a massive opportunity for more than 600 firms in sectors relating to motorsports. The University of Buckingham, the UK’s first independent university, is located within the town. Transport links are good: Buckingham’s location between the M1 and the M40 gives speedy access the rest of the UK.

Buckingham Job Opportunities

People looking for jobs in Buckingham in the electronics, pharmaceuticals, and composite materials industries will discover job opportunities amongst the high tech companies on the town’s industrial estates. The town has a community hospital and three GP surgeries that offer healthcare jobs and administrative vacancies: there are also several homecare providers that cover the town and surrounding area. In the field of education, the University of Buckingham is a major employer of lecturers, teachers and support staff, as are the two secondary and three primary schools.
