John* has a rare genetic disorder that affects the brain. It can result in seizures, which cause progressive loss of physical and cognitive ability. John* lives at his family home in Bristol and requires 24/7 care on a 2:1 basis, to meet his needs.
John* is aware of his surroundings and enjoys listening to music. His face lights up when Abba is playing on the radio.
Marie* has Severe Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy. She lives in her own home in Bath, supported by a consistent team of Nurses and highly trained, experienced Complex Care Assistants.
Marie* needs 24/7 care and support to continue living at home. You will need to help Marie with all aspects of care, and this includes personal care. Marie's* severe learning difficulties and epilepsy have the potential to require rescue medication. Part of her care plan involves Jej feeding [specific training provided], and physio exercises, and a highly structured medication routine which is essential in her daily life.
Marie* enjoys lots of activities including listening to music and going out and about in the community. She shows how happy and excited she is through facial expressions.

    • Maintaining a high standard of patient focused care reflecting an inter-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation and a holistic and seamless service.

    • Develop good communication links with patients and carers being able to manage sensitive situations and ensure patient confidentiality.

    • Joint working with other services across professional and organisational boundaries.

    • Work effectively and flexibly under direct or indirect supervision. Be responsible for and work unsupervised for identified tasks and reporting back to a clinician in a timely manner.

    • This role requires the successful applicant to be mobile, visiting several locations across a wide geographical area so the post holder must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to an appropriate means of transport to undertake the job effectively.

We are looking for some Volunteer Admin Assistants to join our team based in Corsham. If you can spare four hours on any weekday, Monday to Friday, then this could be for you!

As well as full training and an induction to Dorothy House, volunteers with us have the opportunity to complete NVQs in retail, including Customer Service and Business Admin, so this is an opportunity to boost your CV. We will reimburse your out of pocket expenses (e.g. mileage and parking).

As a Volunteer Admin Assistant you will be office based with our friendly warehouse team in Corsham.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Answering phone calls and making arrangements with donors
