You will join a very supportive team with a strong focus on quality, timeliness and customer service, being comfortable and confident about having mostly remote contact with the team.

Training will be provided as necessary, but certain personal skills are required. As a person you are very thorough and have good common sense. We are recruiting a part time Domestic Assistant/Cleaner to work at the hospice to work 8 hours per week, 2 x 4 hour shifts over 7 days.

Overall Aim: To ensure that a pleasant, safe, welcoming, and clean environment is provided for patients, visitors, and staff.
To ensure an efficient and comprehensive service to enhance patient care and the environment in accordance with national care standards, moving and handling, health, and safety, COSHH, Infection control guidelines and Garden House Hospice Cares core values.
Main Areas of Work
To provide a comprehensive domestic service to all areas of the Hospice, demonstrating consistent quality, efficiency, and effectiveness
To play a key role in assisting in the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection e.g. MRSA, Clostridium Difficile
To maintain a welcoming and tidy environment for patients, staff, and visitors
To ensure economical and safe use of supplies and equipment
To ensure close communication between domestic team and the nursing colleagues in relation to cleaning issues
Cleaning duties to include the laundry in accordance with the domestic policies
Processing of all linen, towels, duvets, tabards, aprons etc. and patient personal laundry according to the laid down guidelines using the Otex laundry system

Domestic duties are monitored by the Domestic Services Team Leader and are carried out in accordance with pre-determined schedules and frequencies. The Senior Sister or Nurse in charge may request domestic staff to alter their routine if necessary.
Tasks are primarily routine and scheduled, but the jobholder needs to be aware of the requirement to alter routine at short notice.
The jobholder is required to undertake departmental induction training which will include training in the operation of equipment/machinery/cleaning materials during the first month of employment.

As Practice Development Sister you will work with the Clinical Education Lead to support the development of skills and knowledge of staff caring for patients by developing and implementing competency-based training and mentorship. You should be a Registered Adult Nurse, with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience including practice knowledge of palliative care. OVERALL AIM
