MH Star is pleased to announce an opportunity for you to join our busy team as a Warehouse
Operations Manager at our newly acquired distribution centre in Bedford.
As a Warehouse Operation Manager, you will be responsible for effectively manging a team of
functional leaders to meet the site objectives. As Operations Manager, you will oversee all core elements including goods in and out, storage, loading processes as well as local HR, facilities, quality management and Inventory control.

As the leader, you will ensure warehouse operations are managed effectively and efficiently, you will also be responsible for the operating procedures and disciplines within the warehouse, ensuring full compliance and undertake the planning and deployment of labour resources to meet the volume of despatch, picking and goods in requirements. You must be able to work in a high pressurised environment and be able to make strategic plans, to ensure successful attainment of warehouse objectives to the correct standard and within the agreed timescales.

You will also possess excellent people management skills as you will proactively motivate and
manage your team to deliver safe core warehouse activities.

Key Responsibilities:

To ensure your team provides a first-class service and completes all assigned workload to the
standards the company requires in meeting its service agreements. You will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of a range of customer products ensuring service targets are achieved and surpassed.

  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of the effective supervision, training & development and health, safety, and welfare of your teams.
  • Maintain safe and fit for purpose MHE and machinery ensuring all are tested in line with regulations, including daily start up checks.
  • Execute operational requirements and workload, carefully balancing resource and capability whilst maintaining budget targets working closely with the depot manager.
  • Plan and coordinate the incoming goods, storage, picking and dispatch of goods in a timely and efficient manner to achieve your team objectives and KPI's (key performance indicators) as determined by the Logistics Department including all loading and unloading activities.
  • To provide effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management to include space management.
  • Effective management and processing of non-conforming product ensuring swift remedy in line with authorised business processes.
  • Working with your immediate teams ensure all returns are accurately processed and put-away.
  • Planning periodic stock counts and cycle counting.
  • Continual enforcement of the company's Health & Safety policy responsible for safe working conditions and practices within the warehouse and within your team.
  • Undertake all aspects of recruiting for the Warehouses.
  • Managing disciplinary & grievance cases with HR policy.
  • Supports the Shift Manager with resolution of any critical tasks to deliver site objectives.
  • Operational Excellence Lead for the department.
  • Ensure teams understand and deliver the daily/weekly/ monthly objectives set.
  • Identify measures that will lead to improved productivity levels.
  • Ensure daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished
  • i.e., staffing, equipment, space.
Knowledge and Skills
  •  Previous experience of Warehouse Operations
  •  Quick learner with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  •  Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
  •  Excellent PC literacy - MS Word and Excel.
  •  Excellent understanding of SLAs and KPIs within a Warehouse environment.
  •  Attention to detail.
  •  The ability to work under pressure and to set deadlines.
  •  Flexible with hours and able to work weekends.
  •  Team player with the initiative to work alone.
