We are the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) and our purpose is to ‘Make the East of England Resilient to the Effects of Drought.’


Comprising of Anglian Water, Costain, Farrans, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley, we will operate as a fully integrated and collaborative Alliance with the aim of allowing our water resource to move more freely across the Anglian region by embracing innovation and new ways of working.


By delivering a smart and resilient transfer system through the delivery of pipelines, pumping stations and associated structures, we will be capable of delivering large scale strategic assets and complex systems to our current asset base by ensuring that these are digitally enabled.


This role is for our Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) with Anglian Water, based in Peterborough.


What will you be doing as our new Utilities Coordinator?


Reporting to the Survey & Utilities Manager, imbedded within the Cross-Programme Support team, the Utilities Coordinator will work closely with individual Project Delivery Teams to coordinate utility investigations on site.


Programming and deploying numerous small Utility Investigation teams to obtain high quality utility survey data, ensuring all enabling and facilitating activities are in place e.g. traffic management arrangements and permits.


The role will also include facilitating management of interfaces between new assets (pipelines, pumping stations, storage tanks and associated line of route structures), by liaising with the statutory undertakers (utility companies) to verify and investigate the exact location of their apparatus.


Coordinating request for and the transfer of Utility Survey information and records (drawings) to and from  delivery teams, supply chain and third party stakeholders, ensuring intrusive excavation works are progressed as safely and efficiently as possible, embracing new technologies and processes to streamline delivery in a production management environment.

Key responsibilities:  

  •  Coordinating and undertaking any utility specific or related survey works, to ascertain exact requirements for both civil and utility design works.
  • Production of QA records for utility surveys
  • Processing and presenting utility surveys in ESRI GIS environment.
  • Aptitude to interrogate and check permanent and temporary works information
  • Maintain Utility Interface Schedule and update progress of PAS128 verification process.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….


Processing survey information into the SPA Geographic Information System (GIS), thereby making utility information available to wider design and delivery teams, plus third-party project stakeholders. 


The ideal candidate will be familiar with the environment and managerial procedures of complex infrastructure projects. A proven track record coordinating utility investigation works is essential. Degree qualification is preferable, however individuals with proven experience will be considered.


Must hold a valid gold (Supervisors) CSCS Card, and have completed SSSTS, though SMSTS is favourable
