Are you a proactive individual with experience of working with the public? Do you have an interest in gardens, gardening or visitor attractions? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to take on an engaging part-time role with a well-established charity. 

About Us

Perennial is the nation's only charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture. Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.

Fullers Mill is an enchanting and tranquil seven-acre creation on the banks of the River Lark. It combines a beautiful site of light dappled woodland with a plantsman’s collection of unusual shrubs, perennials, lilies and marginal plants. The site is home to the Bothy Tea Room, which offers tea, coffee and a range of delicious homemade cakes. 

We are currently looking for a Tea Room Assistant to join us on a part-time basis, working 21 hours per week.

The Role 

As a Tea Room Assistant, you will support the smooth running of the Bothy Tea Room and deliver excellent service to customers. 

Specifically, you will: 

- Process visitor admissions 
- Accurately take food and drink orders 
- Promote Perennial and our membership scheme where appropriate 
- Prepare and service food and drinks to visitors 
- Operate in line with COVID-19 safe working practices
- Occasionally supervise the work of volunteers 

About You

To join us as a Tea Room Assistant, you’ll need:

- Experience of working in a public-facing role 
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a highly motivated approach 
- Good organisational abilities
- A team player mentality 

Experience of food preparation would be beneficial, as would knowledge of plants or experience of working with/alongside volunteers. H&S knowledge would also be an advantage, as would any qualifications that are relevant to this role. 

Other organisations may call this role Café Assistant, Visitor Assistant, Waiter, Waitress, Retail Assistant, Kitchen Assistant, Hospitality Assistant, Catering Assistant, Shop Assistant, or Customer Service Assistant.

This is a part-time role, working the following hours: 

Wednesdays and Fridays: 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 10.30am – 5.30pm (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
