Description

RSK Environment Ltd, a member of the RSK Group plc, includes a Materials & Structures department based in Hemel Hempstead that provides specialist inspection, surveying and investigation services into the built environment. The department also includes a UKAS-accredited materials-testing laboratory, which enables us to provide a full in house service for evaluating engineering properties and condition factors of construction materials and provide our clients with detailed assessment reports and guidance.

Site Technician – Hemel Hempstead

Do you want to work for a multi-disciplinary consultancy providing services for over 40 years, with market leading capabilities across the construction, services and rail sectors?

We have an exciting opportunity for you at RSK to join our Materials & Structures business, providing specialist inspection, surveying and investigation services within the built environment. The department also includes a UKAS-accredited laboratory, enabling us to provide in house services for evaluating construction materials and to assist our clients with detailed assessment reports and guidance.

What you can expect in this position

  • Primarily site-based, with some office/stores time
  • Working in a team with civil/structural engineers and project managers
  • Mainly in London and the south-east but can be nationwide and occasionally international
  • Suitable training will be provided
  • Mainly physical work, loading vans, carrying and operating equipment
  • Working at height and in confined spaces may be required
  • Anti-social hours sometimes required (evenings/night-time/ weekends)
  • Occasional requirement to stay away from home (expenses paid)
  • Opportunities to develop a career in the construction engineering sector

What you'll be doing:

  • Testing and sampling of existing structures
  • Structural investigations (breaking out concrete)
  • Condition surveys
  • Working in varied and challenging locations, from construction sites to historic buildings

What we're looking for:

  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
  • Construction/site experience an advantage
  • Good mathematics/science and/or practical skills an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office applications (AutoCAD an advantage)
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence

Qualifications/ Certification

  • GCSE grade A-C in mathematics, English and science.
