About the role

As a Senior Service Designer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering effective services supporting managers and staff across our user centred design and digital transformation work.

Service designers design the end-to-end journey of a service. This helps a user complete their goal and deliver a policy or health system intent. In this role, your work may involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of the health and care system. You will help teams ensure the user is at the heart of what we do and supporting effective digital delivery across NHSX and the wider health and care system.

The NHSX Digital Transformation Directorate exists todeliver improved outcomes for patients and clinicians using approaches that are user centred and agile, and in doing so change the way people in the health and care system design and deliver services

We believe we will only unlock the full benefits of digital, data and technology when we create services and experiences that meet the needs of patients, staff and clinicians, with the capability to continuously improve as new opportunities emerge.

We provide digital leadership, working with policy and operations colleagues over the long term to bring about the digital transformation of whole services that span national, regional, integrated care system, and provider levels.

The User Centred Design team works across NHSX programmes of work, with other arm’s-length bodies (ALBs) in particular NHS Digital and across the health and care sector. We lead and accelerate the use of user-centred design across the health and care system, supporting teams to design and deliver great products and services that understand and meet people's needs. As a function, we support user centred design professionals in other NHSX programmes and develop a more collaborative culture so that it is easier for anyone in health and care to deliver inclusive, user centred, services.

Please note that the reason for the fixed term of your contract is short-term time limited to project - 24 month Fixed Term or Secondment.
