As Senior Legal Counsel at St John Ambulance, you will have direct responsibility for providing leadership on legal counsel to the whole of St John. Leading the small legal department, you will ensure the legal team is equipped to provide legal counsel by identifying risks, managing risks and providing assurances on risks as appropriate. The Senior Legal Counsel will play a key role on providing legal counsel to all parts of St John in its breadth of activities.
About the Role
As Senior Legal Counsel at St John Ambulance, you will have direct responsibility for providing leadership on legal counsel to the whole of St John. Leading the small legal department, you will ensure the legal team is equipped to provide legal counsel by identifying risks, managing risks and providing assurances on risks as appropriate. The Senior Legal Counsel will play a key role on providing legal counsel to all parts of St John in its breadth of activities.
Working closely with the Director of Governance, the Senior Legal Counsel will ensure St John complies with company and charity law. As the most senior qualified solicitor within the charity, you will at times be required to provide direct assurance and advice to St John Trustees and Executive Directors and act as the business partner to improve the effectiveness of various Directorates.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be a Qualified Barrister or Solicitor with experience in leading and motivating high performing teams. You will have knowledge of handing major non-contentious commercial transactions, providing governance leadership and advice and working in a regulated environment, ideally within a large charity.
