Our Organisation

NHS England and NHS Improvement came together on 1 April 2019 as a new single organisation. The NHS Long Term Plan focuses on delivering integrated care to patients at the local level and we can best support the NHS to deliver this as a single integrated organisation.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have an ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

Our new operating model represents a strong shift to regional delivery supported by expert corporate teams. Local health systems are supported by our integrated regional teams who play a major leadership role in the geographies they manage.

We are jointly committed to creating and maintaining a fair and supportive working environment and culture, where contributions are fully recognised and valued by all and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. As employers we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health and well-being of all our staff. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution, supports us to be an Employer of Choice and ultimately enables our employees to support the effective care of our patients.

The Corporate Information Governance team’s mission is to enable a lawful and ethical culture for the use of information to deliver and improve our high-quality patient care.

We are based within the Commercial Directorate and provide an internal IG service to NHS England and NHS Improvement. We support managers and staff across our organisations by providing policies, procedures, systems and guidance in relation to data protection and confidentiality, information security, data governance and records and information management.

We help ensure that NHS England and NHS Improvement remain compliant with all aspects of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. This involves managing subject’s rights requests, fair processing, information assets, data protection impact assessments, incidents, and training and awareness. We also oversee the management of our corporate records and information, information sharing, and provide support to data and information teams, in particular working with NHS Digital regarding requests for national data sets.

We provide assurance to our Boards that we remain compliant through preparing and submitting annual Data Security and Protection toolkit returns and undertaking pro-active assurance deep-dives with NHS England and NHS Improvement teams, as well as our hosted bodies and data processors. We also support the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Caldicott Guardian and Data Protection Officer in discharging their responsibilities relating to safeguarding personal data in the NHS.

We aim to deliver a positive and collaborative working environment and have developed a set of behaviours that all our staff are expected to demonstrate:

  1. To respect each other and our differences
  2. To promote a positive and inclusive culture at work
  3. To be open, transparent and collaborative
  4. To create an enjoyable working environment
  5. To be honest, authentic and empathetic

As Senior Corporate Records Management Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a highly effective records and information management service supporting staff across NHS England and NHS Improvement. The post holder will support an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

The post holder supports the implementation of effective controls and training to ensure NHS England and NHS Improvement’s compliance with appropriate and evolving information governance regulations and records management standards.
