Our Organisation

NHS England and NHS Improvement came together on 1 April 2019 as a new single organisation. The NHS Long Term Plan focuses on delivering integrated care to patients at the local level and we can best support the NHS to deliver this as a single integrated organisation.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have an ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

Our new operating model represents a strong shift to regional delivery supported by expert corporate teams. Local health systems are supported by our integrated regional teams who play a major leadership role in the geographies they manage.

We are jointly committed to creating and maintaining a fair and supportive working environment and culture, where contributions are fully recognised and valued by all and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. As employers we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health and well-being of all our staff. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution, supports us to be an Employer of Choice and ultimately enables our employees to support the effective care of our patients.

This is an exciting new position within NHSX Mission 2 to join the programme delivery team for the Wellness and Prevention programme.

The Mission 2 team has been established to deliver the NHSX mission: ‘giving people the tools to access information and services directly’. The team champions the provision of digital services for citizens, representing their interests on development, commissioning projects and programmes across NHSX, NHS E/I and NHS Digital. It works closely with the NHS regions, sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs), integrated care systems (ICSs), Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), and with representatives of patients, suppliers and charities.

Mission 2 is responsible for two of the eleven NHSX major transformation workstreams and commissions the component programmes: NHS App and NHS login. In addition Mission 2 is the service owner for the NHS website. As part of its remit Mission 2 is responsible for co-developing the ecosystem for digital services for people including platforms, standards and guidance. Working collaboratively across the wider health system, Mission 2 leads product strategy for a number of new propositions to deliver the NHS Long Plan.

The team champions the need to empower people to participate in their health and care, using digital services that personalise their experience to meet their needs, improve health outcomes through timely interventions, and enable more effective interactions across care settings.

This role requires a strong programme manager who wants to be part of a creative, dynamic and passionate team. If you are committed to making an impact, learning from our practice and driven by an unwavering commitment to producing tangible outcomes at speed, then take a leap and come and join our team.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programmes, you will play a vital role in the delivery of our Wellness and Prevention programme leading to improvements in health and care for the public. Our channels include

- the NHS App, which has over 2.5m registered users;

- NHS.UK, the leading website for health and care information in the UK that sees upwards of 60m visits per month;

- NHS login which to date has enabled more than 30m health and care transactions since its launch in Jan 2019.

As Programme Manager, you will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver excellent front end experiences that enable users to self care and self serve bringing together people’s lifestyle and wellbeing information with their health and care data. The Mission 2 portfolio provides important components of digital transformation required to support the success of the NHS Long Term Plan and the Secretary of State's Tech Vision by maximising the uptake and impact of digital services.

You will support programme delivery together with the wider Wellness and Prevention team, working closely with colleagues across the sector to ensure clear service delivery goals in the following areas:

- Development and delivery of the programme scope, outcomes and deliverables, finances, delivery and implementation plans, milestones and dependencies

- Communication of the strategy and vision to stakeholders

- Collaboration with programmes and teams across NHSX and NHSD to develop a sustainable and deliverable programme.

- Working closely with various NHSX teams (CTO, Commercial, Finance, Policy etc) to ensure that projects and programmes are fit for purpose, aligned and approved

- Ensure that programme reporting is accurate and timely.
