As a train driver with GB Railfreight you will have the chance to drive diesel locomotives of a variety of tractions, across many a routes and carrying various goods, from construction materials, waste, biomass, aggregates, to container traffic. Every week will be different.


Working closely alongside our trusted customers you will be empowered to lead on the delivery of our key activities on the front line, working with Rail Operators and Management to ensure safety is paramount and the company’s 5 core values are met.


We can offer you a choice of a part time contract, whether that's 1, 2 or 3 days a week. However, a flexible attitude to working hours is required due to this being a shift-based role with the roster coming out on a Thursday for the following week.

  • You will be an experienced Train Driver (Passenger or Freight).
  • You will have a clean safety record as well as a valid UK driving licence to be able to drive to site as required.
  • The bigger the route card, the better!
  • Confident using IT equipment as we will issue you iPad for work purposes. 
  • You will be safety conscious and in the event of an emergency situation, keep calm and carry on.
  • Confident in communication and professional at all times, including wearing our blue uniform with pride.
  • You will live up to 60 minutes travel of your chosen location.

You will receive a competitive salary. The full time salary is £58,487 per annum based on a 34.5 hour week (4 days) week. This works out to £29,244 per annum for a 17.25 hour (2 days) week.
