National Buying Manager - Produce

Role: National Buying Manager - Produce
Salary: £53,485.00 rising to £77,870.00
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00-18:00
Contract: Permanent

Role Overview:
Reporting to one of our Produce Buying Directors, and leading a small team of Buying Assistants, the successful candidate will help to drive produce sales, profitability and innovation through effective leadership, analytical skills and passion for product

Responsibilities:
• Manage and foster the development of Buying Assistants
• Meeting, managing, assessing, engaging and motivating suppliers
• Have a detailed and comprehensive understanding of product range
• Display ownership for category, and actively manage through driving innovation and change promoting quality
• Produce timely and accurate business forecasts, plans and recommendations to enable targets to be met, and to make further decisions based on key drivers
• Prepare presentations for both internal and external use, taking into account market information, product performance and commercial considerations
• Identify, assess and monitor additional information/data which could be used in decision making
• Plan, prepare and carry out negotiations
• Provide assistance to the Produce Director on existing and future ranges
• Utilise the knowledge and initiative of employees, following the principles of the Aldi Management System

Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
• 2:1 Degree
• Maths GCSE (Minimum Grade C)
• English GCSE (Minimum Grade C)
• Vast amount of retail buying experience - produce preferable
• A good sense of urgency and adaptability under pressure
• Effective leadership, motivation and people management
• A self-starter with the ability to prioritise duties among multiple concurrent projects
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to plan ahead to meet deadlines with a high level of personal organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills with ability to take complex information and deliver in a simplified manner across many levels of a business
• Delivery of concise and articulate, executive-level written work
• Intellectually curious and takes initiative
• Strong problem solving capabilities and focus on solutions
• Strong commercial acumen
