This is an opportunity to join a leading international medical communications agency as a Medical Editor working across a variety of print and digital materials.

You will proof and edit materials for scientific integrity, grammar, continuity and aesthetics and be able to mark up and track changes in Word, Adobe and PowerPoint. You will also have knowledge and be able to use industry software packages and be able to liaise with the studio and production teams.

To be considered for this role, you will have previous medical communications agency experience in an editing role. This role can be office or homebased, but candidates are required to be resident and eligible for work in the UK.

Responsibilities:
  • Edit and proofread scientific copy and slides for grammatical accuracy and consistency in line with SOPs and applying house, journal, and client style to a high standard
  • Liaise with studio and external suppliers to ensure items meet client specification and deadline
  • Proofing typeset copy to include consideration of layout (figures/tables, colours, size, quality, and resolution) and accuracy of the copy to a high standard, and liaise with studio for necessary amends
  • Feedback editing comments to members of the editorial team using tracked changes, highlighting any areas of uncertainty
  • Manage electronic and paper filing systems, including project folders, references, contacts, and archiving
  • Ensure all copyright and author permissions are in place prior to submission/print
  • Perform online database/Internet searches for reference, journal, and congress information as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Educated to degree level ideally in a life science
  • Previous medical editing experience gained within a medical communications agency environment
  • High standard of English spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the computer software required, e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Prism, Adobe Acrobat, Reference Manager, DataVision, Zinc, Veeva, Endnote
