The job: 

This role requires you to operate within a matrix management system to deliver key responsibilities. You will be accountable for timely and compliant delivery with regards to the following:

  • Providing expert support for investigations and problem solving

  • Improvements in Environmental monitoring and Analytical methodology

  • Support in method transfer documentation and activities

  • QC aspects of disinfectant and cleaning validation

  • Validation / verification of Cleanroom Environmental Monitoring and Utilities.

What will you do? 

  • To provide expert scientific input into investigations and other problem-solving activities.

  • To lead and advise on Environmental monitoring improvements and analytical method remediation activities.

  • To prepare technical documentation including but not limited to standard operating procedures, specifications, protocols, investigations and reports.

  • To plan and support cleanroom qualification and analytical method qualification activities. Write protocols and reports and provide expert input in designing the Environmental monitoring, Utilities and Cleaning regimes

  • To lead the QC aspects of disinfectant and cleaning validation, including liaising with other Departments, developing analytical methods for cleaning as required, planning and coordinating validation of cleaning methods and analysis of cleaning validation samples.

  • To write and execute (or coordinate the execution of) analytical validation / verification as required.

  • To review analytical and laboratory data within the Department for accuracy, completeness and compliance with documented procedures.

  • To maintain own training records and support and train other team members as required.

  • To collaborate, coordinate and participate in continuous improvement activities and look for further opportunities to progress the team/department.

  • To assist in maintaining a clean working environment within the QC Microbiology Laboratory

  • Regularly generate and provide detailed update reports for Quality and Site management

  • To communicate effectively with others on site and externally, and to participate with them in problem solving activities.

  • Ensure cGMP is applied in their area of work and comply with cGMP in all areas of the business.

  • To work with HSE, cGMP and 5S in mind at all times.

  • To carry out any other tasks which may be required from time to time.

Who are we looking for? 

  • Relevant science-based degree; e.g. Microbiology, Biology, Pharmacy.

  • Substantial experience working in a pharmaceutical QC Microbiology function and/or cleanroom environment, preferably within a sterile site.

  • Substantial Technical experience, must have substantial knowledge and ‘hands-on’ experience of environmental monitoring, cleanroom qualification, utilities qualification, test method qualification and cleaning validation.

  • Good experience of Microbiology and aseptic techniques.

  • Strong communication skills – hold presentations, facilitate meetings and training, and create reports and experience of communicating with clients.

  • Good collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proven problem-solving skills.

  • Good technical writing skills.

  • Wants to learn and have a natural curiosity to understand systems and processes.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment essential.
