IT Systems Engineer - PermanentCurrently seeking a highly motivated, talented and experienced IT professional to complement our industry leading IT Department as a Systems Engineer. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager you will form an integral part of the Infrastructure Team in taking ownership and delivery for the maintenance of core systems and infrastructure.The successful candidate will have prior experience of operating in a similar role. They will be expected to lead the technical delivery of projects with a strong emphasis on security, showing a positive attitude and demonstrating initiative. They will possess all of the essential and most of the desirable skills and knowledge set out below, be highly technical and able to communicate effectively.In addition to project delivery, the Infrastructure Team act as an escalation point for Service Desk, so an aptitude for solving complex operational issues is essential.Leading the delivery of complex technical projects on traditional, cloud-hosted and SaaS platformsDriving improvement and innovation, challenging current technologies, processes and behavioursEnsuring availability, Integrity and confidentiality of IT Infrastructure services to meet agreed SLAs and KPIs are achievedActing as an escalation point for Service Desk for complex incidents, problems and changesUndertaking all activities with a primary focus on risk mitigation and data securityCarrying out day to day tasks relating to IT Infrastructure and applications. Provisioning/de-provisioning including maintenance and monitoringManagement and strategic planning of IT infrastructure and applications capacity managementProducing regular reports on IT Infrastructure and application health, providing remediation actions and recommending improvementsCoordinating with 3rd party providers to ensure regular security and platform upgrade cycles are maintainedTroubleshooting complex issues with 3rd party support vendors such as Talk-Talk-Business, Mitel, Microsoft, Checkpoint, Citrix, VMware, NetApp, F5, Cisco etcBuilding a strong working relationship with colleagues within the Infrastructure Services Team and the wider IT functionPlanning, managing and delivering infrastructure changes from concept to transition into support. Working within a defined methodology delivering documentation such as HLD, LLD, implementation documents and knowledgebase articlesMonitoring and management of IT Infrastructure and applications alerts related to capacity response times - utilisation resourcesStaying abreast of latest technology trends and identifying new technologies that could provide additional efficiencies and benefitsCoaching and guiding Service Desk colleaguesIn order to be successful for this role, it is essential you have the following skills and experience;Minimum 2 years' experience designing, configuring and supporting:Microsoft Server O/S 2012 onwardsActive Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOsEnterprise SAN such as NetAppHypervisor such as VMwareRDS/VDI platforms such as CitrixLoad balancing such as Citrix ADCSolid understanding of the benefits of designing, delivering and maintaining systems in a secure mannerSolid understanding of networking including subnets, routing, diagnostics including packet analysisIt would be advantageous if you have;Experience designing, configuring and supporting:Office 365 / Microsoft 365Veeam Backup/replication suitesCitrix SDWAN/VPXCisco Meraki networkingCheckpoint NGFW including Smart-1 management platformFlexPod Converged InfrastructureEnterprise AV products such as Sophos, Trend & IvantiMicrosoft certifications such as MCP/MCSA/MCSEExposure to Microsoft E5 Security SuiteVMware training/certificationsCitrix training/certificationsNetApp training/certificationsExperience of working in an environment following frameworks such as ITIL.
