Concept Artist - games

This leading games studio is looking to recruit a talented Concept Artist to provide beautiful concept art and in-game assets for its new cutting-edge interactive drama game

The role is an initial three to six month contract, with a strong possibility that this will develop into a longer role for the right candidate. The studio is based in London but the role can be done remotely both during covid restrictions and also longer term.

Skills and experience needed:

Demonstrable experience working as concept artist in game or film industries. Ability to paint realistic figures and environments as well as adapting to different styles. Must be fast, professional and a positive team player who is able to take direction and problem solve.

• Creativity – having lots of ideas
• Traditional skills: drawing and painting, knowledge of anatomy, value and colour, composition, and perspective
• Digital painting skills Photoshop, photo comp
• Storytelling approach to concept art
• Knowledge and interest in construction of buildings and machines.
• Ability to render convincing and storytelling light
• Good team worker
• Ability to work fast and efficiently.
• Positive outlook and an ability to take direction
• Can work independently

Nice to have:

• 3D skills for concept art
• 2D animation / Unity / graphic design skills
• Matte painting skills
• Organisational / management experience

The role involves:

• Producing real world environment art concepts in many lighting scenarios
• Character image painting
• Creating lighting concepts for locations working with the 3D dept.
• Producing rough through to finished concept work
• Creation of 2D art for incorporation into the game
• Work to bring Art Director’s vision to life
