We are looking for a Building Surveying Surveyor/Technician to join our team based in Cardiff / South Wales. There are options for home working available. The purpose of the job is to assist in the successful delivery of property consultancy services to our commercial clients and, assisting colleagues in all aspects of skills delivery and client development.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of project and building consultancy instructions and will receive support and training to achieve full membership of the RICS. You will also be involved with identifying new business opportunities and promoting the brand.

Person Specification

  • Be educated to at least degree level or equivalent, in a Building Surveying RICS accredited degree. Preference will be given to an A’ level or equivalent qualification in maths or science.
  • Have experience in specification writing.
  • Have an understanding of the standard forms of building contract, their application and the duties of the Contract Administrator
  • Hold a full driving license
  • Have own car
  • Have good IT skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, AutoCAD LT & other bespoke)
  • Have good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Have an open willingness to ask questions
  • Work with focus, minimal supervision and enthusiasm
  • Have an ability to think clearly and make reasoned decisions, explaining the logic employed
  • Be a flexible individual, capable of working as part of a team, able to adapt to different work practices
  • Be a good communicator with high levels of numeracy and literacy

Main Responsibilities

  • As a Building Surveyor/Technician you will be responsible for;
  • Undertaking building surveys, site inspections and measured surveys to produce associated reports and drawings.
  • Drafting plans/sections/elevations on computer aided design software
  • Preparation of Schedules of Work and Specifications for all types of maintenance and construction projects
  • Compiling and monitoring project costs in line with approved budgets
  • Producing feasibility reports
  • Management of sub consultants and contractors
  • Arranging meetings and collating project documentation as required
  • Assisting senior surveyors in carrying out condition and asset management surveys, together with Party Wall Surveyor services for both Building Owners and Adjoining Owners, dilapidations and many other building surveying commissions
