Liquidnet Europe Limited is seeking a highly competent Assistant Financial Controller to join its Finance Department and to manage key aspects of financial Accounting for the EMEA Finance Group. The role sits within a small London-based team.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is eager to further develop their career in a fast-paced dynamic environment where they can add value. In this London-based position, the individual will be responsible for controlling key day-to-day activities within the Finance function and oversee the financial management and key reporting for the organisation.

The role will report to the EMEA Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly financial statements for EMEA
  • Overseeing the month end close procedure for key balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Managing monthly inter-company process and reconciliations
  • Performing monthly and quarterly variance analyses for senior management and governance committee reporting
  • Reconciling CSA/RPA commission statements and controlling CSA/RPA transactions by Members.
  • Overseeing the preparation of certain CBI & FCA monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for regulatory purposes
  • Preparing statutory returns items including Tax, VAT & Transfer pricing reports
  • Preparing statutory annual financial reports
  • Assisting with annual external and internal audit matters
  • Assisting with annual budget processes
  • Assist in financial scenario modelling and recovery planning
  • Maintaining accurate records with appropriate controls, accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintaining the integrity of the Company’s current ledgers and new accounting system
  • Maintaining the integrity of the Company’s commission management systems
  • Supporting the preparation of the annual reports and audited financial statements

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of month-end closing process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant experience within the following:
    • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA/ ACCA)
    • Solid accounting background gained in either a Big 4 or blue chip environment
    • Able to demonstrate a history of working to tight deadlines both independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent PC skills (Excel & PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of securities industry is useful but not a requirement
  • Working knowledge of SAP is helpful but not essential
