About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Applications Developer to be based in Sheffield as part of Capita Employee Solutions. We are keen to hear from individuals with Progress coding experience, however we welcome applicants with a strong background in either .Net or C# who are willing to learn Progress Development Language. Experience of Agile and financial services industry is ideal for the role, however not essential.

Job Description:

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with the Scrum Master, Product Owner and Team Leader on developments for the web applications.
  • Deliver within agreed timescales, deliverables and quality sign off for developments and have input to the planning process for the team
  • Review and enhance the web offering provided by the team
  • Update, enhance and improve the portal
  • Make suggestions and improvements to the application and enhance the user experience
  • Develop projects, scheme changes, modellers, web forms and other web functionality

What we’re looking for:

  • Web Application Development using script and framework languages
  • Database application development using query based languages (Progress OpenEdge, .Net or C#)
  • HTML / CSS Basics
  • Agile/Scrum
  • Ability to manage varying demands and workloads.
  • An enthusiasm for development
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Desirable Experience / Skills:

  • Advanced HTML 5 and CSS 3
  • Development using the Progress 4GL development language (OpenEdge)
  • Transferable frameworks similar to Progress such as Uniface
  • Accessibility standards development (Minimum AA WCAG)
  • Sitecore (CMS)
