Advertising Job Purpose:

People who work in Advertising are in charge of creating marketing communication that persuades an audience to buy a product or service. These people may create advertisements for the company that employs them, prepare advertisements for a company’s customers, or both. Advertising includes the people who create the advertisements as well as those who execute the design, creating the graphic, dialogue, or text for the concept the creative staff develops. Advertising involves many different types of media, such as newspapers and magazines, radio advertisements, television commercials, direct mail fliers, social media posts, blog posts, and website advertisements. The purpose of advertising is to develop a brand for a company and create a relationship between the company and its customers through that brand to initiate and sustain sales to those customers. Individuals working in this field have to be comfortable working without a template.

Advertising Job Duties:

  • Meet with client companies and discuss goals
  • Perform market research identifying areas upon which to focus
  • Create advertising plans and content to reach those demographics
  • Design and prepare advertisements as needed
  • Test concepts and review results with client companies
